A playful exploration of RESEARCH, PROCESS + DOCUMENTATION and the different ways we collect and make sense of information. Looking, noticing, collecting, photographing, filming, recording, drawing, writing and making can all become forms of research. Your phone can become a 5D sketchbook: a tool for collecting images, sounds, movement, observations and everyday DATA as you experience the world around you. The aim is not simply to collect more stuff, but to begin recognising what interests you, what keeps appearing and what might be worth following.

An exploration of DESIGN + VISUAL COMMUNICATION: developing ideas and finding ways to make those ideas visible to somebody else. Drawing, fashion illustration, Collage, photography, model-making, diagrams, film and digital image-making can all become tools for designing and communicating. It asks what happens when drawing isn’t simply about making a beautiful illustration, but Becomes a way to think, design, explain + develop an idea. Analog and digital languages can mix, allowing personal inspiration, research and storytelling to become new design possibilities.

PATTERN RECOGNiTiON
An exploration of PATTERN + MAKING in all its meanings: pattern recognition, pattern cutting, repeat pattern, surface design, print, decoration, embroidery, construction and fashion.
It begins by recognizing patterns in images, objects, research and the world around us, then explores how those Observations can move between 2D + 3D, surface + form, and eventually onto the body. Pattern cutting, Fabric, construction and sewing become creative tools for developing ideas and making clothes, rather Than the technical processes living separated from design.
